Chef Kitchen
By: bear, June 2010Menu

Cold and rainy day it was when we were in Kemang last week. We spotted a nice warm cafe on Kemang Raya, only few hundred meters from McDonalds. Interior looked nice and warm, especially with open kitchen with no partition makes it looks open. I notice no heavy baking smell, unlike some shops with open kitchen and ended with smelly dining place. Bravo to the owner who has nicely pull it together and still keep the place comfortable.

The menu they have is quite simple. Sandwiches and light drinks such as juices, coffee and tea. We ordered a warm hot chocolate and strawberry juice. Hot chocolate was great; juice came in the shape of slushy...nice and refreshing. Smoked Chicken & Asparagus sandwich was wrapped with baguette came nicely on wooden cutting board. Simple and unique presentation indeed. However, the sandwich could be better with less black pepper. The same condition happens as well with Tuna Melted sandwich that came with brown bread. Chef kitchen is quite generous in giving away its cheese (could be better with less black pepper).

While the sandwich was not exceeding our expectation, we find this place is a great place just to have light afternoon tea or hot chocolate. I love how they made the shop. They place lots a rolling pins on the wall and several cooking books on the shelves. I took picture of the light they have, it is made of kitchen utensils as decoration, ice-cream scope, grainer and many other. Interesting!

Overall impression was good, thanks to the ambience, I suppose.

They have cooking class once in awhile. If you are interested, leave your contact detail, and they'll let you know.

Pan O - in Pacific Place
By: bear, April 2010
The Ambience     Pan-O in Pacific Place...nicely decorated, located in somewhat prime corner where you can see the hustle bustle in the mall. When we flipped the menu, its literally explain what you will have on the plates ^^ ....there’s no fancy title such as "Chocolate Heavenly Pancakes".

The Food
Banana Choc

Mini

The Ambience    So, it’s pretty easy to select what you'll have on the plates. We had mini pancake, chocolate lover pancake, banana pancake and fruit wrapped crepes. It all comes with ice cream and same plate presentation. I find it quite boring ... ummm well...it started from a boring menu though.

Menu    The pancake style is a little thick, approximately 0.8 mm... a little different compare to Mr. Pancake.
Taste of it without any syrup is quite good...not flour taste all the way....I like it. Other than that, I find it as a regular eating place...somewhat like going to diner and ordered a pancake....just to get yourself full but not the eating experience.

Book's Menu
I do note one thing though on the banana pancake, they served it with chocolate-honey comb butter (butter with choc flakes). It tasted good but as you can see in the picture I posted, the presentation is just too pale and not appetizing. Maybe if they could just re-do the presentation, it'll bring more excitement in the eating experience.
